Portishead meets Joan of Arch
"How do you update a classic silent film from the 1920s? By breaking the silence with a new score. That’s what Adrian Utley of Portishead and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory are doing with The Passion of Joan of Arc, Prefix reports.
The film, directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer and released in 1928, will get a 21st century update. At Colston Hall in Bristol, England, on May 7, the collaborative team will perform their score live at a screening of the film. There will also be a group of six electric guitarists performing alongside Utley and Gregory under the direction of conductor Charles Hazlewood."
